Under the direction of the Grounds Foreman II, the Lead Grounds Maintenance Foreman I supervises tasks involving grounds maintenance such as installing asphalt, concrete, drain pipes and cleaning right-of -way ditches and swales, and managing routes including garbage removal, lawn maintenance and snow removal.
High school diploma or vocational school course with sufficient experience in grounds maintenance work to meet the requirements for the skills specified, or any equivalent combination of experience and training, which provides the required knowledge skills and abilities.
Possession of an appropriate and valid Maryland Motor Vehicle Operator’s License (commercial operator’s license Class A) with a driving record indicating five (5) or fewer current points, of which no more than three (3) shall have accumulated as a result of traffic violations occurring while operating a Board of Education vehicle.
Supervises the work of crews composed of Ground Maintenance Foreman I, Laborers, Trades Helpers and Equipment Operators in grounds maintenance and repairs.

While performing duties of this job, the employee must have the strength and dexterity to perform all required tasks including the ability to climb a 40' vertical ladder, work from scaffolding and a bucket truck, the ability to lift and carry a minimum of 80 lbs., work in cramped interior spaces, and the ability to do extensive walking, bending, stooping, crawling and kneeling in the course of completing daily work assignments. The employee is required to maintain sustained physical effort and some exposure to dust, dirt, chemical solutions, solvents, odors, and adverse weather conditions.
