Under general supervision, performs skilled technical work in area of expertise, including administrative responsibility in the designing, planning, and scheduling of immediate and long-range maintenance programs. Employees in this class are responsible for aiding in the preparation of the facilities inventory, evaluation of the preventive maintenance requirements of facilities and planning and scheduling required work; processes incoming work requests, prepares work orders including cost estimates of labor and material; inspects construction and maintenance projects; works under the direction of various coordinators/foremens as well as the Director of Maintenance.
Graduation from high school; prefer some college and/or successful completion of technical/trade school courses; progressively responsible experience in maintenance work, including responsible lead or supervisory work; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. License to practice trades-craft in Prince George's County preferred.
Possession of an appropriate and valid Maryland Motor Vehicle Operator's License with driving record indicating five (5) or fewer current points of which no more than three (3) shall have been accumulated as a result of traffic violations occurring while operating a Board of Education vehicle.
No direct supervisory responsibilities.

While performing duties of this job, the employee must have the strength and dexterity to perform all required tasks including the ability to climb a 40' vertical ladder, work from scaffolding and a bucket truck, the ability to lift and carry a minimum of 80 lbs., work in cramped interior spaces, and the ability to do extensive walking, bending, stooping, crawling and kneeling in the course of completing daily work assignments. The employee is required to maintain sustained physical effort and some exposure to dust, dirt, chemical solutions, solvents, odors, and adverse weather conditions.
