Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Supervisor of Print and Mail Production, the Print and Mail Production Specialist will coordinate the day-to-day operations of the system wide print and mail production programs.  The incumbent of this position will oversee and monitor the print and mail production schedule and review and approve deliverables.  The Print and Mail Production Specialist is responsible for the receipt of requisitions for services, interpreting customer requests, planning, giving instructions, assigning jobs to each employee, coordinating flow of work during production, and review of work while in progress.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops and approves the overall print and mail production schedule; ensures that deliverables are met on time and on budget;
  • Receives printing, mail and delivery requests; assigns and schedules tasks accordingly;
  • Oversees the production and quality control of printing and mail projects;
  • Meets regularly with key stakeholders and critical site support personnel to ensure that projects are well coordinated;
  • Identifies and troubleshoots key site issues and plans corrective action;
  • Provides training and professional development to department personnel;
  • Conducts weekly implementation status report meetings;
  • Leads the implementation and project milestone review sessions and provides updates to supervisor as appropriate;
  • Understands and assists in the management of the project budget; and
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of printing and mail production equipment and processes;
  • Understanding of United States Postal Service (USPS) code, practices, policy and pricing;
  • Ability to carry out work assignments independently in accordance with established procedures and methods;
  • Ability to prioritize and schedule projects accordingly;
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving abilities;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment;
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential to this position;
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously;
  • Experience coordinating and managing across cross functional operations;
  • Experience developing project proposals, including cost analysis;
  • Experience using Oracle E-Business Suite;
  • Highly self-motivated, self-directed and attentive to detail; and
  • Experience in managing and coordinating production of print and mail services/functions.

Education and/or Experience Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred.  A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in print and/or mail production required.

Certification:

Certification issued by the Printing Industry of America (PIA) preferred.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Provides guidance and supervision to assigned personnel.
