Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Director of Student Applications, the Senior Systems Analyst will be responsible for leading the analysis, design, implementation and support of the Student Information System (SIS).  The incumbent of this position serves as a bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring that the SIS capabilities align with PGCPS needs.  The Senior Systems Analyst will oversee SIS upgrades, troubleshoot complex issues and recommend improvements to optimize performance and efficiency.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with PGCPS central offices and schools to gather and analyze requirements for new systems and/or enhancements;
  • Designs, implements and documents customizations, extensions and enhancements to SIS applications and reports according to software standards and conventions;
  • Liaises with vendors and external partners for SIS troubleshooting, enhancement and support or integration of third party systems;
  • Conducts system testing, validation and user acceptance processes;
  • Ensures data accuracy, consistency and privacy in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and PGCPS regulatory policies;
  • Assists with and/or conducts end-user support and training to school and district personnel on SIS functionality and best practices;
  • Develops and maintains documentation related to system processes, user guides and data governance; and
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Skilled in the use of relational databases (i.e., Oracle, MS SQL Server), including proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL
  • Thorough knowledge of software development practices, business and administrative management systems, and complex systems analysis;
  • Knowledge of student information systems, including data model, web services and customization capabilities;
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to work cooperatively as a team or independently;
  • Ability to interact well with functional area staff;
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information in a non-technical manner, both orally and in writing;
  • Effective project management skills; and
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.

Education and/or Experience Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, project management, management information systems or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.  A minimum of five (5) years of experience as a system analyst/software developer required.

Certification:

None required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

No direct supervisory responsibilities.
