Under general supervision, performs routine manual and clerical work in receiving, storing and issuing supplies, materials and equipment. Assignments may involve operation of materials handling equipment and/or trucks.
Positions in this class are located in storage facilities containing a wide variety of items in bins and/or bulk storage. The work requires continuous walking, lifting and moving of property by hand and with the aide of materials handling equipment. The primary responsibilities are directly related to receipt, storage and issue activities; however, other duties may be required such as participating in inventories, maintaining records, operating gas or electric powered materials handling equipment, and operating passenger vehicles, pickup trucks and vans in connection with pickup and delivery activities. Work is checked for accuracy and compliance with prescribed requirements and procedures.
Completion of a standard high school diploma or GED, with some experience and training in warehousing, storekeeping, automotive parts storeroom or tool maintenance, including some clerical work; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Possession of an appropriate and valid Maryland Motor Vehicle Operators License (Class B) with driving record indicating five (5) or fewer current points of which no more than three (3) shall have been accumulated as a result of traffic violations occurring while operating a Board of Education vehicle.
No direct supervisory responsibilities.
