Under general supervision, chemically tests and treats water in boilers, water towers, and other water containers to prevent or delay scale, rust, pitting, corrosion, and other damage due to impurities in the water; keeps records of containers tested and treatment rendered. An employee in this class normally performs work on a cyclic basis, thus assuring regular attention to each boiler or other water container. In addition to actually testing and treating water, an employee in this class is responsible for instructing plant equipment operations, building service manager, and building services foremen in the proper procedures to apply in testing and treating boilers and other water containers in their assigned locations.
Completion of high school and considerable experience in chemically testing and treating water in boilers and similar water containers. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.
Possession of a valid Maryland Class C driver’s license equivalent.
No direct supervisory responsibilities.
