The Welder II performs skilled work in the welding and repair of equipment which involves skill in the use of acetylene and electric arc welding equipment. Skill is also required in handling and applying welding of flux materials and in performing all types and phases of welding work. The incumbent works in conjunction with the Plumbing Shop to make welds and repairs to pressure boilers, associated piping, equipment and systems.
Completion of a standard high school or trade school course, preferably including training in general shop work.
Possession of an AWS D1.1 certification at time of interview; possession of an appropriate and valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s license with driving record indicating five (5) or fewer current points of which no more than three (3) shall have been accumulated as a result of traffic violations occurring while operating a Board of Education vehicle.
May provide guidance and oversight to assigned personnel.
