Administrator, Compliance and Procedures

Compliance in the Prince George's County Public School (PGCPS) system serves as a vital hub for ensuring adherence to local, state, and federal laws and regulations governing education. This dedicated office plays a crucial role in upholding legal standards, fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment, and promoting equity within the educational institution.

Comprising a team of knowledgeable professionals, the Office of Government Relations, Compliance, and Procedures (OGRCP), serves as the linchpin for ensuring that activities and practices within the school administration align with the federal, state, and local laws and regulations, as well as the policies established by the Board and PGCPS administrative procedures. It acts as a guardian of integrity, fostering an environment of transparency, accountability, and adherence to ethical principles. This includes but is not limited to laws and regulations surrounding student welfare and safety, student rights, Title IX, ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act), employee fiscal responsibilities, and other pertinent legislation. The office collaborates with educators, administrators, and staff to guarantee that all facets of the educational experience align with these regulatory frameworks.

Compliance includes monitoring and assessing compliance with applicable laws and regulations, investigating concerns related to potential violations, and developing and implementing strategies to mitigate risks. The office works collaboratively with other departments to provide guidance, training, and resources to staff, ensuring that everyone is well-informed about compliance requirements.

In addition, the OGRCP plays a crucial role in maintaining a comprehensive and up-to-date system of policies and procedures. This involves continuous review and revision to reflect changes in legislation and evolving best practices. The office serves as a resource for employees, offering guidance on interpreting and applying policies in their daily work.

Furthermore, the OGRCP is responsible for working with state and federal auditors to identify areas of improvement and address any gaps in compliance. In essence, Compliance is a cornerstone in the school system's commitment to providing a safe, inclusive, and legally compliant educational experience for all stakeholders. Through its diligent efforts, this office plays a pivotal role in upholding the integrity of the educational institution and promoting the well-being and success of every student.
