An executive-level communicator shaped by a career across public education, journalism, public relations, and marketing, Thornton brings a wide-angle view of the district — high enough to see the full landscape of progress, gaps, and opportunity, yet close enough to understand the stories, pressures, and wins unfolding in schools and offices every day. That range allows her to elevate successes, spotlight what's ahead, and drive the narrative that keeps stakeholders aligned around a clear, cohesive story of how PGCPS is moving forward.

Prior to taking on her role as Deputy Chief of Staff, Thornton notably led the transformation of the PGCPS Communications team into a full-scale, in-house newsroom that more than doubled marketing output and launched dynamic multimedia storytelling efforts that strengthened transparency and engagement across the district. In her expanded role, she continues to shape the strategic direction of this work.
