Students should not arrive at school prior to 9:15 a.m. There is no supervision available before this time; therefore, student safety cannot be guaranteed.
Students should line up in front of the school and enter through the main entrance doors. It is important that all students arrive on time each day.
At 9:15 a.m., all students are permitted to enter the building to participate in the Free Breakfast in the Classroom Program. Students should report directly to their classrooms upon arrival.
Students should be seated and ready for instruction by 9:30 a.m.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to allow students to enter the building independently to promote responsibility and independence.
All non-bus riders arriving after 9:30 a.m. must be escorted by a parent/guardian to the main entrance to receive a tardy pass.
Walkers should remain on the sidewalk and follow the directions of school personnel at all times.
Walkers will enter the building through the main entrance doors.
Parents and guardians should follow the procedures below when dropping off students in the morning:
Parents/guardians should enter the James Ryder Randall Elementary School parking lot and proceed to the rear staff parking lot area.
Vehicles should loop around the staff parking lot and proceed to the designated drop-off walkway located before the temporary buildings.
Students will enter and exit vehicles at the designated drop-off location. Parents/guardians must remain in their vehicles at all times.
Students will enter the building through the side entrance near the gym.
Parents/guardians should follow the directions of school staff members supervising arrival.
Parents/guardians should not exit their vehicles during drop-off.
Once the student has safely exited the vehicle, the vehicle may proceed forward, allowing the next car to pull up.
Parents/guardians will use the same designated area for both arrival and dismissal procedures.
Afternoon dismissal announcements begin at 3:40 p.m.
Car Riders: Students dismissed as car riders will report to the gym. Three to four staff members will supervise students and ensure each child is released to the appropriate parent/guardian or authorized provider. Parents/guardians must remain in their vehicles at all times during dismissal.
Bus Riders: During dismissal, a staff member assigned to outside duty will notify the main office via walkie-talkie when buses arrive. Once hallways are clear, buses will be called individually, and students will exit the building through the main entrance.
Delayed Buses: If a bus is delayed, students assigned to that bus will report to either the main lobby, where they will wait quietly in line, or the cafeteria, where they will be supervised by two to three staff members until their bus arrives.
Dismissal Changes: All parents/guardians must submit any changes to their child’s dismissal plan to the classroom teacher by 2:00 p.m., unless there is an emergency.
Our goal is for all students to be safely dismissed from James Ryder Randall Elementary School by 3:50 p.m. each day.
All visitors must have an appointment with the main office before entering the building. This procedure is in place for the safety and protection of all students, staff, and visitors.
Parents and guardians may pick up their student(s) throughout the school day for scheduled appointments or other approved reasons.
The cutoff time for early dismissal is 3:00 p.m. Students must be picked up from the main office before this time.
All parents/guardians must present a state-issued photo identification card and must be listed on the student’s emergency card.
If an individual requesting to pick up a student is not listed on the emergency card, the parent/guardian will be contacted to verify authorization before the student is released.
All parents/guardians or authorized adults picking up students must sign the student out in the main office and exit through the main entrance of the school building.
Verbal authorization for a student to be released will not be accepted. All dismissal changes must be submitted in writing.
Thank you for partnering with us to ensure a safe, efficient, and orderly arrival and dismissal process for all students.
