Principal's Message

Hello Patuxent Elementary, Mighty Eagle Families:

We are so close to opening the 2023-2024 school year and I could not be more excited. 

It is with great enthusiasm that I welcome you to Patuxent Elementary for the 2023-2024 school year.  I stand today honored and humbled to say I have served as your principal for the last four school years.  Educating our scholars has not been easy, but with you and our staff, we have overcome many obstacles and made great progress.  For your support and grace, I thank you.

Our systemic focus remains on improving mathematics instruction, supporting our students’ and staff’s social emotional needs and cultivating a positive climate and culture.  You can expect us to continue to be, “Transformational,” in the way we educate our scholars, ensuring our instructional practices are innovative and data-driven.

Patuxent Elementary School also continues to be a NEST for our Mighty Eagles that will Nurture and Educate Scholars Together.  Year five, as the principal of The Eagles’ N.E.S.T comes with some great goals and aspirations.  Mainly, my goal is to enhance the climate and culture of our schoolhouse and increase the JOY in our school.  I will focus on having our students learn to be an inspiration to one other and strive each day to bring their best selves to the N.E.S.T.  I am giving you my word that I am leading a team who is also committed to INSPIRE, embrace change, exhibit patience, flexibility, cultural empathy, and foster positive relationships with you and our scholars.

Understanding that this is a partnership and we cannot do it without you, we ask that you support us by ensuring students are in school, on time, daily.  We also ask you to always assume positive intentions and keep the lines of communication open.  Finally, we ask you to be willing to volunteer your time and resources when needed.  I am so proud to share that last school year our families helped us raise money for a school-wide trip and more.  We look forward to your continued support with our Read-A-Thon fundraiser to enhance our school culture and climate.
