Welcome Back

Dear Parent/Guardian,

The start of school is fast approaching, and it is an honor to welcome our scholars back to school for the 2023-24 academic year! I hope this letter finds your family enjoying the summer and starting to get excited about the upcoming school year.

My name is Jason Simmons and I have the honor of being the Principal at Perrywood ES. I want you to know I am here to support you and your family through your child’s educational journey. My aim is to foster a sense of belonging by knowing and valuing our students as individuals, a community of learners, and citizens. At Perrywood we will prioritize each child's well-being and social-emotional development. As a part of that, we will continue to use our Positive Behavior Intervention System, PBIS, to ensure our Perrywood scholars continue to show P, R, I, D, E while at Perrywood.

I welcome your involvement at Perrywood Elementary because I believe that the school and community must work together to ensure success for all students. Become an active participant as a classroom volunteer, member of the PTO, or special event participation; you are encouraged to get involved! Research on schools demonstrates that parent/community participation in a child’s school coincides with a greater likelihood of academic success.

It is important that students arrive to school on time from day one. School is a student’s job. Arriving to their job on time is expected and sets the tone for the day and an important life skill. Doors open for breakfast at 7:20. Class begins at 7:50 daily. Students are considered late at 7:45. We appreciate your effort in helping your child arrive at school on time.

Please reach out anytime if you have questions, comments, or ideas for ways we can continue to make Perrywood a great school for everyone. Best wishes for the 2023-2024 school year!

Warm regards, Jason Simmons,

Perrywood Elementary, Principal
