Lockdown Letter to Parents

Dear Parents/Guardians,

I am writing to inform you about an incident in the community that affected our school dismissal on Tuesday, September 3, 2024. At approximately 3:22 p.m., school security alerted the main office that gunshots were heard in the woods behind the building. In response, school-based employees quickly began bringing students back inside to shelter in place.

Based on this information, our school was immediately placed on lockdown to ensure the safety of all students and staff. The Prince George's County Police Department was notified, and two officers responded. They confirmed that no suspicious activity had been reported. The matter was resolved, and the lockdown was lifted at approximately 3:38 p.m., allowing us to proceed with dismissal as normal.

The safety of our students and staff is my top priority. We have gotten off to a great start, and I look forward to even better days ahead.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at 301-985-1720.

Sincerely,
Rhonda Simley, Principal
