Dear Woodridge Elementary School Families, Staff, Students, and Community Partners,
It is with great excitement and confidence that I introduce Ms. Edyth Duff-Andrews as the new Acting Principal of Woodridge Elementary School. Please join me in congratulating Principal Duff-Andrews as she begins this important chapter of leadership and service to the Woodridge Elementary School community.
Acting Principal Duff-Andrews brings several years of educational experience, a strong foundation in instructional leadership, and a genuine passion for helping students and educators succeed. Throughout her career with Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS), she has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to academic excellence, equity, collaboration, and the success of every child.
As an Instructional Director, I have had the privilege of working with many talented school leaders. Acting Principal Duff-Andrews stands out because of her ability to combine high expectations with compassion, collaboration, and a deep understanding of effective teaching and learning. She recognizes that successful schools are built when students, educators, families, and community members work together toward a shared vision of excellence.
A particular strength of Acting Principal Duff-Andrews is her ability to develop and empower teachers. As an Assistant Principal, she established herself as an effective instructional coach who works alongside educators to strengthen classroom practices. She provides meaningful feedback, facilitates professional learning, and creates opportunities for teachers to reflect, collaborate, and grow. Her relationship-centered approach has helped establish trust among staff and encouraged teachers to embrace innovative instructional strategies that support student achievement.
Acting Principal Duff-Andrews also understands the importance of using data to drive meaningful instructional decisions. She carefully examines assessment results and other measures of student performance to identify strengths, determine areas for growth, and ensure that students receive the support they need. Working collaboratively with teachers and school leaders, she has helped translate data into focused instructional actions designed to improve student outcomes, particularly in reading and mathematics.
Equally important is her commitment to the whole child and the whole school community. Acting Principal Duff-Andrews values the voices and contributions of students, staff, parents, families, community stakeholders, and external partners. Her leadership experience includes supporting student support teams, collaborating with special education programs, addressing the operational needs of a
school, and building meaningful relationships with families. She understands that academic achievement and student well-being are interconnected and that every child deserves to learn in a safe, supportive, inclusive, and academically challenging environment.
As Acting Principal of Woodridge Elementary School, Ms. Duff-Andrews will continue building upon the strengths and traditions of the school while working collaboratively with the community to identify new opportunities for growth. She brings the knowledge, heart, determination, and leadership capacity needed to inspire others and move a school community forward.
I am confident that under Acting Principal Duff-Andrews’ leadership, Woodridge Elementary School will continue to be a place where students are challenged to reach their highest potential, teachers are supported in delivering excellent instruction, families are valued as essential partners, and every member of the community feels welcomed and respected.
Please join me in extending a warm Woodridge welcome to Acting Principal Edyth Duff-Andrews. I look forward to seeing the positive impact of her leadership and the continued accomplishments of the students, staff, and families of Woodridge Elementary School.
Congratulations, Acting Principal Duff-Andrews, and best wishes for an outstanding school year!
Warm regards,
Dr. Judith Haughton Williams Instructional Director Prince George’s County Public Schools
