Summer’s winding down — but we’re turning up the excitement for a new school year! Join us Saturday, Aug. 16, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Prince George’s Sports and Learning Complex in Landover for our annual Back-to-School Fair.

Whether you’re a student, staff member, parent, or neighbor, here’s why you’ll want to be there:

  1. Kick off in style
    • We’ll start the morning with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 8:30 a.m., set to the beat of the Frederick Douglass High School Marching Band. It’s the perfect way to set the tone for a day of school district spirit.
  2. Stock up for success
    • Free backpacks and school supplies will be available while supplies last. It’s your chance to get a jump-start on back-to-school shopping — without opening your wallet.
  3. Connect with the community
    • Meet PGCPS and community leaders, learn about job opportunities, and take advantage of free health screenings for parents and guardians, courtesy of Kaiser Permanente.
  4. Move, groove, and win prizes
    • From student performances and music to games, giveaways, and a live yoga demonstration on the main stage, there’s something for everyone. The first 150 yoga participants will even get a free mat.
  5. Treat yourself
    • Stop by our “Cones and Conversations” tent for a free ice cream cone — and a chance to chat with friends old and new.

The Back-to-School Fair is made possible by our partners: Educational Systems Federal Credit Union, Kaiser Permanente, 96.3 WHUR-FM, and the Revenue Authority of Prince George’s County.

What to know before you go: Weapons are prohibited and security screenings will be conducted on site. Free parking is available in Lot B.

Mark your calendar, bring your school spirit, and let’s start the year together!
