Across our district, school nurses do far more than treat minor injuries. They manage chronic conditions, respond to medical emergencies, support families and help ensure students are ready to learn.
During School Nurses Week, the district recognizes the professionals who serve on the front lines of student health.
This year’s theme, “Leadership in Every Moment,” reflects the role nurses play each day. From making split-second decisions in emergencies to coordinating care with families and staff, school nurses provide steady leadership grounded in clinical expertise and compassion.
Among those recognized is Tijeerah Henderson, nurse manager, named the 2026 Maryland School Nurse Administrator of the Year for her leadership in advancing student health services.
This year, we also honor:
School nurses remain essential to safe and supportive learning environments and their daily leadership makes a lasting difference for students and families.
