Three Prince George’s County Public Schools leaders were recently recognized by the Maryland School Counselor Association (MSCA) for their commitment to advancing school counseling and supporting student success.
Each year, MSCA honors professionals who exemplify the mission of the counseling profession and demonstrate how strong school counseling programs help students succeed academically, develop socially and emotionally, and prepare for life after graduation. Their recognition reflects PGCPS’ continued commitment to ensuring every student is supported and prepared for the future.
Steven Baker was named Administrator of the Year, an award recognizing school leaders who champion the work of school counselors.
“Receiving the Administrator of the Year award from the Maryland School Counselor Association is both a humbling honor and a reflection of the power of a strong school counseling program,” Baker said.
He also credited the counseling team he works alongside each day, noting that the recognition reflects the dedication of counseling professionals Dr. Moore and Ms. Godwin in supporting students and families.
Keisha Branch received the Dr. Vivian Lee School Counseling Advocate of the Year Award, which recognizes leaders who advocate for the role of school counselors and the profession’s impact on student success.
“I am honored to receive the Dr. Vivian Lee School Counseling Advocate of the Year Award,” Branch said. “This recognition highlights the school counselor’s role as a vital leader and advocate within the educational system.”
Dr. William Clay was also recognized for his leadership and contributions to the counseling profession.
“One of the most honorable awards is to be recognized by your state professional school counselor organization,” Clay said. “This award validates that hard work pays off.”
