Risk Management is a division of the Risk Management and Workers’ Compensation Office. We are responsible for evaluating loss exposures, assessing liability, promoting internal controls and developing effective safety and health programs for all employees and the students served. We are also responsible for the administration of the insurance programs and reporting of claims including employee injuries under Workers’ Compensation.
We are here to identify, assess and address concerns that could potentially damage the Prince George’s County Public School (PGCPS) system -financially, strategically, and/or by reputation.
The mission of the Risk Management and Workers’ Compensation Office is to effectively address and manage the Prince Georges County Public Schools (PGCPS) Systems’ occupational safety and health, liability, financial, operational, compliance, and reputational risks. Our goal is to be a resource for the PGCPS system employees and reduce the frequency and severity of injuries and associated cost of claims, through continuous education, communication, partnerships and employee participation.
Our vision is to continually seek ways to improve and maintain a safe and healthy environment for our most valuable assets, our employees and the children we serve. We are here as a resource for all with health and safety within the PGCPS system. We strive to develop and facilitate best risk management practices by educating and communicating with our employees on matters relating to health, safety and risk. We want to ensure we cultivate a risk-conscious workplace that will aid with the reduction of injuries within the PGCPS community.

TO FILE A NEW CLAIM AFTER OCTOBER 1, 2022: To file a Workers' Compensation Claim, you may contact the Injured Employee Hotline at 1-855-364-9861. Call this number to report your workers' compensation claim prior to seeking medical attention for all work-related non-life-threatening injuries.
