This course is designed to engage students in a comprehensive program as they work to make sense of the natural world through phenomenon-based instruction and the Science and Engineering Practices (SEPs) and Crosscutting Concepts (CCCs) of the Next Generation of Science Standards (NGSS). The Disciplinary Core Ideas for sixth grade include: matter, conservation of energy, the relationship between energy and forces, the universe and solar system, Earth’s history and materials, the role of water in Earth’s surface processes, natural resources and hazards, human impact on Earth systems, and global climate change. In this course, students are expected to consistently apply the SEPs and demonstrate the correlation among the CCCs in order to make sense of and connect the DCIs across disciplines of science. 410673 - Co-Teach - This course is designed to have a general education teacher work in collaboration with a special educator in order to ensure that both general education and special education students have access to the general education curriculum while incorporating instructional practices and strategies to meet the needs of all students; 410683 - Intensive - This course is designed to be a small class environment for special education students enrolled in a designated special education program.
