Positive D.A.Y. Summer Youth Academy

Program Description

The Positive D.A.Y. Summer Youth Academy is designed to enhance the lives of youth with a summer camp session that include life enrichment skills, constructive behavior strategies, and motivational development techniques.  The Academy is conducted by the Sheriff’s Community Partnership Section Positive Deputies Assisting Youth (D.A.Y.) Corps along with Sheriff Explorers who will guide and mentor the Summer Cadets to a better understanding of law enforcement, citizenship, and most importantly themselves.  Through the use of hands-on Business and STEAM related activities, students will be engaged in acquiring new skills, collaborating with community partners, and solving critical problems in real-world experiential settings. 

* Acceleration and scaffolding of upcoming content and prerequisite skills

* Enrichment or teaching of skills or content that are not part of the required content, advanced beyond a student's grade level, or elective

* Summer bridge or transition programs, for students who are transitioning between school levels (ex: middle to high school) to familiarize them with the school environment, focus on academic and behavioral skills,

Hours: 9:00 a.m.  to 3:00 p.

Location
The Positive D.A.Y. Summer Camp will be held in-person at Benjamin Stoddert Middle School.

Cost/Accommodation

This program is provided at no cost.  However, students are responsible for the cost of bi-weekly field trips.  

Transportation is not provided.

Breakfast and lunch will not be provided.
