Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Building Automation Systems Lead, the Building Automation Scheduler will be responsible for performing semi-technical work in monitoring and adjusting the Building Automation Systems (BAS) for proper HVAC comfort and energy management control. The incumbent provides user support on work orders and on the BAS systems at all assigned schools.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responds to requests for troubleshoots and repairs of the energy management/building automation systems; analyzes, interprets and reports findings;
  • Monitors, maintains and adjusts building automation schedules and ensures they meet standards;
  • Works with shop leads, supervisors and Radio Dispatchers in screening work orders to ensure calls for service are dispatched correctly;
  • Assists with maintaining records, drawings, and other information on BAS systems and HVAC equipment;
  • Maintains databases and spreadsheets as assigned; maintains controls inventory and orders supplies;
  • Assists shop leads and supervisors with the work order system;
  • Assists onsite with Energy Management Building Automation Technicians; and
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Basic knowledge of HVAC systems and controls;
  • Ability to operate a building automation system graphical user interface;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with particular strength in Word and Excel;
  • Ability to resolve computer-related problems and provide assistance;
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions, diagrams, sketches, blueprints and manufacturers’ manuals;
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing;
  • Knowledge of technology (computer and/or mobile device) to enter and read work done in the online work order management system; and
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and contractors.

Education and/or Experience Requirements:

Completion of high school diploma or GED; two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in the repair, maintenance and operation of industrial/commercial HVAC/Building Automation Systems preferred, or graduation/certification from a technical school specializing in HVAC or building automation systems preferred.

Certification:

Possession of Niagara 4 Technical Certification Program (TCP) preferred.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

No direct supervisory responsibilities.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 25 lbs.
