Position Summary:

Under the Instructional Supervisor, the Program Coordinator will support the successful implementation and management of the assigned program(s) in assigned schools.  The incumbent of this position has the overall responsibility for ensuring the implementation and coordination of the duties and responsibilities necessary for the success of each academy program within the schools to which they are assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serves as the liaison between the school sites assigned, Instructional Specialist and Instructional Supervisor;
  • Coordinates student recruitment/enrollment into the CTE programs of study;
  • Assists with development of consistent CTE content standards;
  • Assists with media relations, marketing materials, advisory boards, Career & Technical Student Organizations (CTSO) and general outreach as it relates to the academy programs;
  • Assists with the selection and ordering of approved instructional materials;
  • Orders equipment, supplies and materials for programs at various schools;
  • Assists in the development and monitoring of CTE programs budget including grant and local funding;
  • Assists with development and implementation of Perkins and other grants;
  • Assists with program audits and inventory of equipment and materials;
  • Works with and supports educators to ensure that the CTE curriculum is followed and ascertains their instructional needs;
  • Collects and analyzes program data and prepares quarterly and year-end reports;
  • Assists school administration with program scheduling and staffing;
  • Monitors and evaluates the academic progress of students and works with the appropriate staff to develop interventions;
  • Plans career opportunities for students such as guest speakers, field trips, job shadowing, internships, apprenticeships and other experiential opportunities in collaboration with school staff;
  • Assists with the planning of and participating in vertical matriculation activities with middle schools;
  • Serves as a liaison to the community regarding the CTE programs;
  • Solicits and secures business partnerships and additional program resources, as applicable; and
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to monitor the implementation of the curricula and collect feedback to support continuous program improvements;
  • Knowledge of current trends in careers and special emphasis on curriculum, assessment and career experiences;
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with classroom teachers, instructional specialists and professional organizations in providing rigorous academic experiences for all students;
  • Maintains accurate financial, inventory and student data records;
  • Effective time management, documentation and organizational skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage teams;
  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills;
  • Ability to present ideas in business friendly or user friendly language;
  • Highly self-motivated, self-directed and attentive to detail;
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks under pressure;
  • Extensive experience working in a team-oriented and collaborative environment;
  • Strong instructional and facilitator skills;
  • Experience in collaborative planning and providing professional development;
  • Demonstrated strong leadership and administrative competency; and
  • Proficiency with Google applications and MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point).

Education and/or Experience Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in the applicable field; Master’s degree preferred.  A minimum of five (5) years of experience teaching with a minimum of three (3) years of teaching in a CTE related program of study required.

Certification:

Holds or is eligible for an Advanced Professional Certificate appropriate to the area of assignment issued by the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE).

Supervisory Responsibilities:

No direct supervisory responsibilities.
