Position Summary:
The Senior Project Manager is responsible for performing all of the necessary tasks for implementation of the program to the targeted schools and divisions. The incumbent of this position provides oversight and support to personnel to ensure the goals and objectives of the program are met. The Senior Project Manager serves as the key project advocate and is responsible for ensuring that the outcomes are achieved and that the project is viable at all times. This is an active role and includes ensuring that the project involves all required system units, engaging stakeholders, approving key deliverables, supervision and execution of budget, giving direction as and when required, and making decisions or recommendations during the project’s life cycle.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Facilitates the implementation, monitoring, and assessment of the program and communicates outcomes with appropriate stakeholders; provides oversight and support to ensure the goals and objectives of the program are met;
- Initiates and develops overall objectives for the office; assesses needs, establishes priorities; develops specific objectives and strategies; implements the processes and procedures for the success of the program;
- Coordinates seamless cross pollination of program requirements to existing district initiatives;
- Oversees and provides guidance and direction to program staff;
- Monitors progress regularly by conducting project status meetings with the program leadership and other project personnel and stakeholders;
- Coordinates the overall day-to-day management of the project to ensure the project’s objectives are achieved within time/cost/quality constraints;
- Performs the required record keeping tasks and maintains the appropriate records;
- Creates and publishes project materials and reports for distribution, including performance reports;
- Communicates effectively with project constituents and key stakeholders to carry out the goals and objectives of the program;
- Assists with orientation, training and supervision of volunteers and community partners;
- Plans, supervises, and participates in a wide variety of activities that meet the scope of work; and
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Understanding of complex program and project delivery management systems;
- Knowledge of relevant project management methods and principles;
- Knowledge of public procurement regulations and procedures;
- Good communications skills, both written and verbal;
- Superior interpersonal skills;
- Ability to lead a team of professionals;
- Knowledge of and comfort with Microsoft Office Suite software including Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint;
- Experience working with grant funded projects;
- Well-organized and detail oriented; attention to accuracy is critical;
- Prepared to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks ongoing at the same time; and
- Ability to supervise and evaluate personnel.
Education and/or Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in business administration, project management, education or a closely related field required; Master’s degree preferred. A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in program administration and/or project management required; previous experience in a public school system preferred.
Certification:
None required.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Oversees and supervises project staff.
