Time Limit: Your child must be expected to miss at least 20 school days in a row due to their documented medical condition.
Special Education Rule: Home teaching cannot be used as a temporary placement for students with disabilities who are awaiting a new special education school or a placement change.
You must provide official medical paperwork depending on your child's condition:
For Physical Conditions: A licensed physician or a certified nurse practitioner must sign the paperwork.
For Emotional or Mental Health Conditions: A licensed psychiatrist, licensed psychologist, or licensed mental health nurse practitioner must sign the paperwork.
Note: For emotional conditions, home teaching can only last for a maximum of 60 consecutive school days.
