Frequently Asked Questions

Does PGCPS offer sponsorship for teachers outside of the country?

Please know that as a condition of employment, all applicants must be authorized to work in the United States. PGCPS does not offer employment to individuals in a temporary, non-immigrant status that requires sponsorship, nor does it offer sponsorship to individuals who require sponsorship from an employer to be validated through the petitioning process. Additional information regarding the Employment of Foreign Nationals - Administrative Procedure 4117 has been provided for your reference.

Applicants requiring sponsorship will not be considered for employment. If recommended for hire, an Employment Eligibility Verification must be completed at the start of employment, which includes the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services Form I-9. The Form I-9 Acceptable Documents list can be found here

What documents are required to submit a teacher application?

Click here to view a list of the documents needed to complete your online application. All candidates must submit all documentation via Frontline application so Certification Advisors can review your documentation and determine your eligibility for a Maryland Teaching License.

What salary can I expect to receive?

Official salary setting will be determined by your assigned Human Resources Partner upon review and submission of the required employment documentation. Salaries are based on certification status, years of satisfactory teaching experience, and highest educational attainment. All conditional candidates will be placed on the PGCEA Salary Scale, Table A Grade 2, regardless of educational attainment.
