In today's digital world, online safety is essential. Partnering with parents to keep our students safe online is a top priority. This page provides valuable tips and resources to help you navigate the digital world with your child and ensure positive online experiences.

Online safety is of critical importance for our students. Ensuring the safety of our students in the online environment is a shared responsibility between schools, parents/guardians, and the community. In today's digital age, students spend a significant amount of time online, whether for educational purposes, entertainment, or social interaction. However, the Internet also presents potential risks and challenges that can impact their well-being and development. By working together, we can create a safer and more positive online experience for our students.

Parent Tips for Online Safety

  • Use Strong Passwords: Aim for at least 12 characters combining letters, numbers, and symbols, and remind children never to share logins.
  • Enable Multi-factor Authentication (MFA): Add an extra layer of protection to important accounts by setting up MFA requiring a code or email to verify identity.
  • Check Privacy Settings: Make sure social media and other accounts are set to private. Be mindful of what you post or share.
  • Think Before Clicking: Double-check unverified links. Malicious links may be used to gather data or hack accounts.
  • Protect Personal Information: With AI tools and phishing tactics on the rise, remind children never to share sensitive details, locations, or Personally Identifying Information (PII) with AI chatbots or unverified contacts.
  • Question What You See: Talk about verifying AI-generated images, videos, and content, including deepfakes.  Check out the family resources section below for conversation starters and fun games to learn about internet safety.
