About the Office of Safety and Security Services

The Office of Safety and Security Services is committed to fostering a safe, equitable, and supportive learning and work environment, serving over 133,000 students across more than 200 public and charter schools and facilities. We are dedicated to creating school communities where safety supports, rather than hinders, student success.

Consisting of both sworn personnel (in bold) and civilian personnel, our office includes Field Supervisors, Compliance Supervisors, Lead Safety and Security Counselor (LSSC)*, Safety and Security Counselors (SSC)*, Safety and Security Assistants (SSA)*, Special Investigators, Security Systems Maintenance Technicians, Safe Passage Coordinators, and other centralized staff who work together to maintain safe school climates and prevent school disruptions.
