Three Year Old Preschool Opportunity Program

About the Program

This program  provides a preschool learning opportunity for community three-year-old children.  Children with varying disabilities and non-disabled peers will have the opportunity to learn and play together virtually, build self-esteem, and develop acceptance of others.  All children will have access to a developmentally appropriate curriculum.

Criteria

 Children turning three years old by September 1st of the school year in which the child enrolls. Three-year-old students with disabilities may be eligible for participation in the program through the IEP process.

How to Apply

Parents must apply for the Preschool Opportunities Program in Scribbles at and select the 3-Year-Old Preschool Opportunities Program.

The parent is responsible for providing required registration documents via Scribbles. Parents will also be required to attend an Open House for the Preschool Opportunities Program and sign the Acknowledgement of Receipt form.

Acceptance

Children turning three years old by September 1st of the school year in which the child enrolls.

Acceptance for three-year-olds is based on a first come, first served basis with limited slots available. Acceptance in the inclusive opportunities for three year olds does not guarantee acceptance in the four-year-old Pre-Kindergarten program. Parents interested in the four-year-old Pre-Kindergarten program must apply and follow all Pre-Kindergarten registration policies and procedures.   NO TRANSPORTATION PROVIDED FOR THE PRESCHOOL OPPORTUNITY PROGRAM. 

Days and Hours of Operation

Typically developing three year olds will have the opportunity to participate in one half day or up to three half days a week. The decision is made by Early Childhood Center principals based on the enrollment of three year olds receiving special education services at the Early Childhood Centers.

Withdrawal from the Program

Community three year-old children may be dismissed from the program as role models if they demonstrate atypical development. The School Instructional Team, in collaboration with the parent,will recommend a referral to the Preschool Child Find Office if appropriate.
