Governance & Accountability

Pillar 5

Outcomes for Pillar 5:

  • Create, review and approve implementation plans
  • Establish and deploy Expert Review Teams
  • Coordinate Maryland’s participation in the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA)
  • Monitor Blueprint outcomes

The Blueprint for Maryland’s Future is monitored locally by Prince George’s County Public School (PGCPS), and statewide by the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) and the Accountability and Implementation Board (AIB). These entities will monitor and report on the implementation of the Blueprint via collecting, analyzing, and reporting disaggregated data that includes student performance, teacher preparation, and the use of funding. Pillar 5 also keeps staff, students, families, and the community informed about the progress of Blueprint.

To assist with implementation feedback, a newly created Expert Review Team administered by MSDE, will conduct school visits at selected schools. Expert Review Teams will observe classes, conduct interviews and focus groups, and use other data to analyze the implementation of the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future in schools. Additionally, the Expert Review Team will determine the underlying causes for student performance problems, evaluate behavioral health services provided in schools, and develop recommendations to address identified issues.
