Overview

What is ALPSS?

The Aspiring Leaders Program for Student Success (“ALPSS”) is a yearlong immersive cohort experience that prepares exceptional assistant principals and central office supervisors to become high-impact PGCPS principals. 

Why ALPSS?

This selective program cultivates instructional leaders who use evidence-based leadership practices to: 1) build school culture; 2) direct schoolwide improvement; and, 3) lead adults and teams, ultimately closing student opportunity and achievement gaps. 

The program experience includes the following:

  • Monthly in-person active learning experiences such as:
    • leadership case studies, 
    • simulations,
    • hands-on practice and application,
    • shadowing and school visits,
    • consultancies
  • Mock interviews to deepen skills as a candidate for the principalship
  • Time to learn directly from local and national experts
  • A lifelong professional community of school leaders

Who Should Apply for ALPSS?

We are looking for applicants who have a proven track record in improving teacher practice and accelerating student achievement. In addition, participants are required to have:

  • At least three years of successful assistant principal or supervisor experience
  • Master’s Degree in supervision and administration, curriculum and instruction, or a closely related field
  • Administrator I and II certifications
