Meet Our New Academic Dean Letter

Greetings to the César Chávez Dual Spanish Immersion School Community,
My name is Yerika Segarra-Rodriguez, and I am truly honored to join the César Chávez Dual Spanish Immersion School community as your new Academic Dean. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve alongside such a dedicated team of educators, students, and families.
For the past 21 years, I have had the privilege of working in education, including several years in immersion and dual-language schools. Throughout my career, I have seen firsthand the powerful impact that bilingual education has on students, not only in their academic achievement, but also in their confidence, cultural awareness, and ability to connect with others. I deeply believe in the mission of dual-language education because I have witnessed how it enriches the lives of both students and their families.
As Academic Dean, my goal is to support our teachers, students, and families in every way I can. Whether through collaboration, instructional support, sharing resources, problem-solving, or simply being available to listen, I am committed to helping create an environment where everyone feels valued and empowered to succeed. I believe that strong relationships built on trust, respect, and open communication are the foundation of a thriving school community.
I look forward to getting to know each of you and learning from the many strengths that already exist within César Chávez. I am excited to work together as partners to continue providing our students with engaging, high-quality learning experiences that inspire academic excellence, bilingualism, biliteracy, and a lifelong love of learning.
