Dear Families of Gaywood Elementary School:
Welcome back to Gaywood Elementary School! I am looking forward to seeing our Gaywood Mustangs return to school with enthusiasm and a growth mindset! I am also anxious to meet our new Mustangs who are coming to our school for the first time. At Gaywood, we take your child’s academic and social growth seriously. “Intelligence plus character – that is the true goal of education.” ~Dr. Martin Luther Kng, Jr. During the next several months, you will notice your child growing and changing into college bound individuals with confidence and pride in themselves, their school and community.
As part of our instructional focus, we gladly welcome parents and families to partner with us in our quest to take Gaywood Elementary to greatness. We want to be Great by Choice. We will have many opportunities for parents to participate in their children’s learning. Have comfort in knowing that my staff and I are committed to walk through the doors every day prepared to meet the ultimate goal of educating your child(ren). In return, please send your children to us ready and prepared to learn. We look forward to working with each one of you and seeing your child put forth effort to do their best, socially and academically every day.
This year our academic focus will be building literacy across the curriculum. The College and Career Readiness Standards will drive our instruction, making learning more rigorous, meaningful, and exciting for students. This school year we will have some parent events that will prepare you to help your child. We are also giving specific attention to individual students who may need additional support academically. Every child will achieve in a nurturing, safe, and positive environment at Gaywood Elementary School.
Again, we are honored to partner with our School Community to make this year the best year yet. As principal, I have an open door policy.
