What is Hispanic Heritage Month?
Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to celebrate and honor the histories, cultures, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino people in the United States and around the world.

It is observed every year from September 15 to October 15. The celebration begins on September 15 because it marks the independence anniversaries of several Latin American countries, including Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras mtd Nicaragua. Soon after, Mexico and Chile also celebrate their independence days.

During this month, we take time to learn about the people, places, traditions, and achievements that make Hispanic and Latino communities such an important part of our shared history.

Different Countries. Brighter Together.

Our Journey Together
This year at IHSLP, we invite you to join us on a journey called “Pasaporte a Nuestra Cultura.”

Each school day from September 15 to October 15, a student will share a short, interesting fact during the daily announcements. We will explore incredible people, amazing places, rich traditions, and meaningful contributions from across the Hispanic and Latino community.

Through these daily spotlights, we will:

  • LEARN: about history, culture, and achievements
  • EXPLORE: different countries and traditions
  • APPRECIATE: the diversity within Hispanic and Latino communities
  • CELEBRATE: the positive impact of Hispanic and Latino people in our schools, communities, and the world
Why It Matters
Hispanic and Latino voices, stories, and contributions are a vital part of our nation's history and our future. By learning and celebrating together, we build a more inclusive, respectful, and connected school community.

Every culture adds something beautiful to the world.
