Welcome Back, Margaret Brent Mustangs!

Dear Margaret Brent Mustang Families,

Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! We are excited to welcome both returning and new families as we begin an exciting new chapter together.

While our name and location have changed, our commitment remains the same. We are proud to be the Margaret Brent Mustangs, and we will continue to provide a safe, caring, and engaging learning environment where every child can thrive. Our focus this year remains centered on our core values of Safety, Excellence, and Collaboration.

As we settle into our beautiful new school building, a few of our procedures will be different. Please take a few moments to carefully review the information below and keep this letter as a helpful reference throughout the school year. Your partnership is essential to ensuring a smooth, safe, and successful start for every student.

School Hours

  • School Hours: 7:30 a.m. – 1:45 p.m.

  • Building Opens: 7:20 a.m.

  • Students may enter beginning at 7:20 a.m. to enjoy breakfast.

  • Students arriving after 7:45 a.m. are considered late and must report to the main office for a late pass.

  • Breakfast is served until 8:00 a.m.

  • Students arriving after 8:00 a.m. will not receive breakfast unless they arrive on a late school bus.

Morning Arrival Procedures

To ensure the safety of all students, we will have separate arrival locations.

Bus Riders

  • Students arriving by bus will enter through the designated bus entrance with staff supervision.

Walkers

  • Students who walk to school should use the walkway leading to the school's main entrance.

Parent Drop-Off (Kiss & Ride)

  • Families dropping students off by car must use the designated Kiss & Ride lane.

  • Please remain in your vehicle at all times.

  • Pull forward as directed by school staff.

  • Staff members will assist students in exiting vehicles safely.

  • For everyone's safety, parents may not park or exit their vehicles during morning drop-off.

Your patience and cooperation will help keep traffic moving safely and efficiently.

Afternoon Dismissal Procedures

Dismissal will occur in the following order:

  1. Bus Riders

  2. Student Walkers

  3. Parent Pick-Up

Bus Riders

Students will be escorted by staff to their assigned buses.

Walkers

Students who walk home will be supervised as they leave campus.

Parent Pick-Up

Parents walking to pick up their child should report to the designated pick-up area at the front of the school. A staff member will call students outside for dismissal.

For student safety:

  • Only authorized adults may pick up students.

  • Identification may be requested.

  • Students being picked up must be signed out.

Students in Pre-K through Grade 2

For their safety, students in Pre-K through Grade 2 may not walk home alone.

They must:

  • Be picked up and signed out by a parent or authorized adult, or

  • Walk home with an older sibling (Grade 3 or above) who attends Margaret Brent Elementary with written parent permission on file.

School Uniform

Margaret Brent Elementary is a mandatory uniform school.

Our uniform remains the same:

  • Light blue shirt

  • Navy blue pants, shorts, skirt, jumper, or skort

  • Black shoes are preferred but not required.

Students are expected to wear their school uniform each day.

Early Dismissal

Early dismissals end promptly at 1:00 p.m.

To ensure a safe and orderly dismissal process:

  • Students will not be called for early dismissal after 1:00 p.m.

  • Whenever possible, please schedule appointments outside of school hours.

Frequent early dismissals cause students to miss valuable instructional time and may impact classroom learning and academic progress.

Classroom Supplies

Our school provides students with the instructional supplies needed for learning.

If you are able, donations of the following items are greatly appreciated to help keep our classrooms healthy and well-stocked throughout the year:

  • Hand soap

  • Hand sanitizer

  • Disinfecting wipes

Thank you for your generosity and continued support.
