Principal Quiñones

I am humbled to lead a school community that has a rich history of culture, learning, tradition, and parent involvement. While this year has presented learning challenges that are new for us all, it is important to me that everyone who walks through our doors or connects to our virtual meetings -teachers, students, parents- feels welcome, safe, heard, and valued. Along with staff and parents, I will work to continue the legacy of success and learning established at Mary Harris “Mother” Jones by building strong relationships with parents, students, staff, and community partners. We often say that it takes a village to raise a child, and we are the village.

Mrs. Quiñones is passionate about education.  She has earned a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education, Master of Science in Instructional Design and Technology, Master of Arts in Educational Administration, and is currently working towards a Doctoral Degree in Organizational Leadership K-12.

During her career in education, she has served in different capacitites.  Her teaching career started as a first-grade teacher in Puerto Rico.  In 2005, she joined the PGCPS family, first serving as an ESOL teacher, classroom teacher, testing coordinator, teacher leader, and most recently an assistant principal at Phyllis E. Williams Spanish Immersion School. Her experiences have allowed her the opportunity to support second language learners of Spanish and English

Mrs. Quiñones joined the PGCPS family as a staff member and parent in 2005.  She and her family relocated to Adelphi, Maryland. Her four children started as English Language Learners (ELLs) and navigateda new system and adapted to a new culture and language. 

Currently, her two daughters and husband are teachers in teh district, and they collaborate to ensure that they share with others what others shared with them. As a family, they enjoy sharing time together and visting new places.
