Welcome Letter

August 12, 2022

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome back to our returning families, and congratulations and welcome to our new families! It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that I write this letter of introduction as the Coordinating Supervisor of The Online Campus. I am truly honored to be a founding member of such an innovative school community, and I look forward to the continued creative learning experiences that your child will participate in!

Our teachers are ready with engaging, innovative, and creative ways to work with your child. We are all excited to have students back in our virtual classrooms, filling them with energy and enthusiasm for learning. Our systemic priorities this year are

  1. School Climate and Culture
  2. Accelerating Achievement in Mathematics
  3. SEL and Mental Health

Professionally I have over sixteen years of experience in Prince George's County Public Schools as an English teacher, ninth grade academy coordinator, and assistant principal. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in English/Secondary Education from Howard University, Master of Education in Minority and Urban Education from the University of Maryland College Park, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Management from Capella University.

I am honored to lead this groundbreaking school community. Along with the teachers and staff, I am elated to bring my skills as an instructional leader to The Online Campus and to work with you as a partner to ensure your child’s success. Last year we achieved a 100% graduation rate, and we look forward to the continued success of all scholars this year as well.

It is important to me that everyone who enters The Online Campus feels welcome and is excited to be here! This attitude enables us to meet the challenges of academic excellence in a positive and nurturing environment. My door is always open, virtually and in person, and I welcome your input. Please feel free to call/email me or your child’s administrator.

In July, we held a new parent welcome session, and I thank all who attended. We also have additional families who have joined us since that time, and our returning families may have questions as well. During the first three days of school, we will focus on acclimating our students to their new environment and new learning management system, Pearson. In addition to supporting our students, we will also focus on making certain our parents/guardians have access to the support they need. We will have a parent training session on September 1 at 6:30pm. The link is forthcoming, and the training will focus on navigating Pearson, the learning management system that will be used this year. It is beneficial for all parents/guardians to have a working knowledge of Pearson. Prior to that training, we will have an additional optional welcome session for parents/guardians who would like to know more about the school and our structure this year. The welcome session will be held on August 24 at 6pm.

Currently, every student has a schedule, which will be visible in SchoolMax when it opens. Students should contact their boundary school in order to receive a Chromebook; although, they may choose to use their own laptop or desktop. Please note, when students come to the school for state and local testing, they must use a school issued device, so it is best to secure one now.

Once again, welcome back! Together, let’s make this a great year at the PGCPS Online Campus!

With gratitude,

Kristin Bullock, Ed.D.
