Dear Rockledge Elementary Parents/Guardians,

My name is Demure Gavin and it is an honor to introduce myself as the new Acting Principal of Rockledge Elementary School and to join this extraordinary school community. I hope this letter finds you and your family well.

I will begin my new role after 30 years as an educator. I have served as a Childcare Director, Teacher, Instructional Lead Teacher, and Assistant Principal. Through the years, my heart has remained in educating the youth of Prince George’s County as well as providing support and guidance to classroom teachers. I am committed to spending time in classrooms to get to know our students personally, to engage with them, and to support their academic success. I want students to feel that they have a special place in our school community.

Parents are our students' first teachers and I value your input in decisions that impact your child’s growth and academic success. Come share your ideas of how we can continue the excellent tradition of this school in new and exciting ways. I truly believe that our students are tomorrow’s leaders and with a true collaboration of home and school, they can reach their full potential.
