The Class of 2026 at International High School at Langley Park has set a remarkable standard of excellence, resilience, and achievement.
This year's graduating class is on track to earn the highest graduation rate in school history at an impressive 88%, a reflection of the determination and perseverance that define this extraordinary group of students.
The class earned nearly $7 million in scholarships opening doors to colleges, universities, and career pathways across the country. Among those scholars is valedictorian Khatira Rustami, a refugee from Afghanistan and the first person in her family to graduate from high school. Although admitted to Stanford University, she accepted a full scholarship to George Washington University.
Another standout senior, Belquees Sahak, earned more than $1.3 million in scholarships, showcasing the limitless potential of this graduating class.
Academic excellence shines throughout the school community:
Six students were named Maryland Merit Scholars, placing them among the top 5% of the graduating class statewide.
Nearly one-third of the senior class earned the Seal of Biliteracy, including 25 students recognized for advanced Spanish proficiency and one student recognized in French.
Four students will graduate from the International High School Leadership Program with at least 15 Prince George's Community College college credits already completed.
Thirty-five students are leaving PGCPS having successfully exited English Language Development (ELD) services, demonstrating extraordinary growth and achievement.
The Class of 2026 also demonstrated a strong commitment to leadership, innovation, and service:
Twelve students earned the MSDE Meritorious Service Award for completing more than 100 service-learning hours.
Katherine Martinez Siguenza became a two-time finalist in the National Mikva Soapbox Speech Showcase.
Two students received the PGCPS STEM Fair “Notable Achievement” Special Award for excellence in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
This year also marks another proud milestone for the school community as the home of the new 2026–27 Teacher of the Year.
