Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) and the Prince George’s County Education Association (PGCEA) have reached a tentative agreement that includes salary enhancements and contract updates. The tentative agreement responds directly to employee voices and a broader call for lasting improvements in how the district attracts and retains talent.

These priorities are central to Interim Superintendent Dr. Shawn Joseph’s 100-Day Plan, which places staffing and workforce support at the forefront of building a stronger PGCPS.

“This tentative agreement demonstrates what is possible when we lead with purpose and prioritize the people who serve our children daily,” said Dr. Joseph. “It moves us closer to creating the kind of school system our educators deserve and our students need. I am grateful for the collaboration that made this progress possible and look forward to continued partnership as we reimagine what is possible for Prince George’s County.”

The agreement reflects weeks of negotiations guided by shared values — respect, equity and a vision for what students need most: consistent, well-supported educators in every classroom.

“Our members have been clear about the challenges they face every day, and this contract begins to address those realities with concrete improvements,” said Dr. Donna Christy, President of PGCEA. “This tentative agreement represents a meaningful step forward for the educators of Prince George’s County and the students we serve. We appreciate the collaborative work that led to this agreement and remain committed to ensuring that every educator has the support, respect, and resources needed to help our students thrive.”

The Prince George’s County Board of Education has also played a vital role in backing this effort, remaining committed to a contract that uplifts the school workforce and aligns with the district’s broader goals.

“The Board is proud to have engaged in meaningful dialogue that led to a contract aligned with our shared values — respect, equity, and excellence for every child and every classroom,” said Board Chairman Branndon Jackson. “The agreement reflects our unwavering belief that when we honor and invest in our educators, we uplift our entire community.”
