Disability and Assault Leave

The Risk Management and Workers’ Compensation Office oversees the assault and disability leave programs for Prince George’s County Public School employees. 

Assault Leave

Eligible employees’ may be entitled to receive paid leave time for employees for an assault occurring within the scope of employment.  Employees of the Board of Education of Prince George’s County whose absence is due to a physical disability resulting from an unprovoked assault occurring within the scope of their employment may be entitled to full pay status, instead of sick leave or Sick Leave Bank participation, provided they comply with all of the procedures cited hereafter.

Disability Leave

Worker’s Compensation Benefits and Disability Leave are provided for employees of Prince George’s County Public Schools for an accidental personal injury arising out of and in the course of their regular employment.  For more details, you may refer to the Workers' Compensation and Disability Leave Administrative Procedure and review the Workers' Compensation Claims page and pertinent documents.

TO FILE A NEW CLAIM AFTER OCTOBER 1, 2022: To file a Workers' Compensation Claim, you may contact the Injured Employee Hotline at 1-855-364-9861.  Call this number to report your workers' compensation claim prior to seeking medical attention for all work-related non-life-threatening injuries.
