Update: August 16, 2023

Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) experienced a cyber attack on the school system’s network on Monday, August 14, 2023. An estimated 4,500 user accounts out of 180,000 were impacted, primarily staff accounts. We are still assessing the full scope of this incident, but as of this time, our main business and student information systems – Oracle and SchoolMAX – do not appear to be impacted by this event.

PGCPS has initiated a password reset for all users. Employees who previously registered their accounts with the PGCPS self-service password tool should visit https://idm.pgcps.org (click the Forgot Password link) to reset their password. Otherwise, employees please contact our Password Reset Support Team at 301-386-1549, Wednesday, August 16, starting at 7 a.m. Student password reset support will take place at school during the week of August 28.

Additionally, the impacted users of this cyber event will be contacted in the coming days with further information regarding their accounts pending further review by a team of external cybersecurity experts.
