Hello Gladys Noon Spellman Family!

I am honored to introduce myself as the new Acting Principal of Gladys Noon Spellman Elementary School, home of the BEARS, where our students are Respectful, Responsible and Ready to Learn. I am humbled that I was chosen to lead such an amazing school and school community.  I have heard so many positive things about Gladys Noon Spellman, and I can’t wait to meet each and every one of you. 

I come to you with 27 years of experience as an educator at the elementary and midde school levels in rural, urban, and suburban settings.  Over the course of my professional journey, I have had the great fortune to serve as an elementary and middle school teacher, a reading specialist, a math coordinator, an IEP Facilitator, a mentor teacher, and 15 years as an Assistant Principal. 

I am the Mama BEAR of three amazing globally conscious daughters, so I understand the lens of a parent. I know the importance of ensuring that the whole child is supported and encouraged socially, emotionally, and academically.  I believe that every child can thrive in a nurturing and supportive environment thats grounded in high expectations for all. In the words of the late Rita Pierson, “every student deserves a champion”.  I vow to be that champion and ensure that every child receives quality instruction daily. I believe that great schools like Gladys Noon Spellman are the result of great teachers and staff. My goal is to continue to support the teachers and staff and provide them with the tools they need to be successful. 

As I navigate through my first year at Gladys Noon Spellman, I will spend my time listening and learning about the rich culture and traditions of the school and school community, building relationships, communicating often, and BEARing Down on GREATNESS!
