Dr. Vivian Powers

Dr. Vivian Powers has been a devoted educator for over 27 years in Norfolk Public Schools and Prince George’s County Public Schools. Prior to transitioning to Maryland, Dr. Powers resided in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia. While there, she earned an Associate in Arts degree in Liberal Arts from Tidewater Community College and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from Old Dominion University. After transitioning to Maryland, Dr. Powers earned her Master of Arts degree in Guidance and Counseling and her Doctorate degree in Educational Leadership from Bowie State University.

During her years as an educator, Dr. Powers has served as a home & hospital and special education teacher, school counselor, college/career coordinator, master scheduler and assistant principal. As assistant principal for the past 17 years, she has worked with numerous leadership teams in various high schools within the county. Her commitment to serving others extends beyond the school to community and has afforded her the opportunity to work with people in diverse populations such as juvenile delinquents, mentally challenged adults, and hospice patients.

Dr. Powers is committed to learning and achieving and strives to create a safe and orderly environment where all students can learn and explore, and staff can creatively engage students in learning that is fun and innovative. For leisure, Dr. Powers enjoys reading, traveling, and spending quality time with friends and family.
