Attendance

School Hours:

7:30 A.M. (ARRIVAL) – 7:45 A.M. student breakfast

7:45 A.M. – 1:55 P.M. for students (instruction begins at 7:45 A.M.)

7:15 A.M. – 2:45 P.M. for teachers

Regular attendance at Longfields is essential for academic success. The first bell rings at 7:30 A.M. We ask for all students to arrive at this time. All students should be in their classrooms by 7:45 A.M. We encourage punctuality. Students who arrive at school after 7:45 A.M. are considered late and must report to the office for an admission slip before going to class. There is no parking in the front of the school and we ask for all parents to abide by our Kiss and Ride procedures for student drop off in the morning. (PLEASE CHECK THE WEBSITE) If a parent drops a student off after 7:45 A.M., the parent will be asked to park and bring the student into the school and sign-in. There are NO exceptions.

In the event of an unavoidable absence from school, the student is required to bring a signed note from his/her parents upon returning to school (if absent for less than 2 days). The note should include a date and reason for the absence. We work very closely with the school’s Pupil Personnel Worker (PPW) to monitor the consistent truancies and absences of our students. If a student has multiple truancies and/or absences, the school will request a meeting and address the concern according to Prince George’s County Public School’s Administrative Procedure 10101. CONSISTENT ATTENDANCE MATTERS!!!!!!!
