Dear Parents and Guardians,

I hope you, your family and loved ones are having a relaxing and safe summer that is full of unforgettable memories and adventures. It is with great pleasure that the Longfields’ Staff welcomes everyone to the 2023 - 2024 school year! Our educators have been engaged in professional learning opportunities designed to strengthen their understanding of existing and new curricula. Additionally, our committed Building Services team has been thoroughly cleaning and disinfecting our building in preparation for the return of our leopards.  

Students are scheduled to begin the 2023 - 2024 school year on August 28th and are in school five days a week from 7:30 a.m. to 1:55 p.m. Please ensure your child(ren) arrives to school on time, with only a few tardies in the year. Students are considered tardy if they arrive after 7:45 a.m.  

Student Orientation and Mock School Day

1. Students and parents will be invited to an in-person Orientation/Mock School Day on Friday, August 25th from 8-10:30am. Parents will be invited to visit the physical classroom and briefly say hello to the teacher. Parents will leave their child in class and will receive more information from the school Principal, Technology Coordinator/School Secretary and Community School Coordinator in the cafeteria. 2. There will be book bags for those interested families, opportunities to support Longfields through a Krispy Kreme Fundraiser, and various school partners interested in sharing more information about their level of love and support for our LES Leopards and Staff.
3. There will be a few food vendors for those parents interested in purchasing food or snacks.

On August 24th from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m., I will hold a parent meeting through Zoom to share the structure of our learning program, technology updates, staffing rosters, Parent/Student Handbook and answer your questions. School Supply Lists

School supply lists have been updated by Longfields Elementary School HERE and on our website. Just Google Longfields. Please read carefully through the lists and contact the school with questions. Please be reminded that students will be required to wear school uniforms: white or light blue collared tops and navy blue bottoms (NO HOODIES OR CROCS/OTHER FOAM SHOES). See the uniform list in the Parent/Student Handbook and on our website.

Communication between home and school is critical, especially during a time when circumstances can change overnight. MOST IMPORTANTLY, COMPLETE THE PARENT EMERGENCY CONTACT FORM WHEN YOUR CHILD’S TEACHER SENDS IT HOME. BE SURE TO INCLUDE YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS.

Student Arrival

Our district-wide review of safety and security in schools generated recommendations for our school and community to follow. As a result, see the following: 

•As a reminder, there is no parking permitted directly at the curb in front of the school.

•Abide by the Kiss and Ride procedures and reduce speed as you pull up and pull away from the drop off/coned areas (IN FRONT OF THE SCHOOL BUILDING). Traffic continues, so there is no place to park and get out of your car in this area. Please use the parking lot for an extended school stay.

•All school visitors must have proper, state-issued identification to access our building. Access to Longfields is by appointment only. Please note that morning appointments will be limited, to help teachers and staff safely prepare for the arrival of students. The Main Office will not schedule any appointments after 3pm. All staff will be required to wear their district-issued identification.

•Unfortunately, parents will not be permitted to walk their students to class (except Pre-Kindergarten Parents), as we permit this on Orientation Day.

Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO)

Longfields Elementary is a wonderful school because parents and staff work together for the good of the students and we are working to strengthen this bond.  This can not be accomplished without parental support and the volunteer contributions of parents just like you! We are looking for parent volunteers to support Longfields and join the PTO Board. This board services the entire school body, and without this level of support, great opportunities are missed.

Hello, my name is Stacey Watson.  I have had the pleasure of working with AlphaBEST since 2013!  I have worked in Early Childhood Education and School-Age Childcare for nearly 20 years! In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my husband and two children. I believe that children's success in our programs requires a partnership between the families, school administration, and AlphaBEST.
