PGCPS will accept student transfer requests for the 2025-2026 school year from Monday, April 28th (9 a.m.) through Friday, May 16th (11:59 p.m.). Parents and guardians must submit transfer requests electronically through their ParentVUE account in Synergy.
Transfer requests are accessible only to parents and legal guardians with an active ParentVUE account (username and password). ParentVUE assistance is provided on the PGCPS homepage. The Online Registration Guide provides step-by-step directions on how to either create a new ParentVUE account or to activate the existing ParentVUE Account. Questions may also be directed to the boundary school.
Parents of currently enrolled students who have an active ParentVUE account will go into their account and select the Icon for student transfers. Follow the prompts and the directions in the instructional guide to request a transfer to an eligible school.
Parents or guardians of currently enrolled students must have an active ParentVUE Account. Parents or guardians can request account activation by providing information that is currently in the student information system. Provide all of the requested information and click the blue "Request Activation" button.* Once the account is activated, the parent will be able to request a transfer through their ParentVUE account.
*Note: If the information provided differs from what is currently in the student information system you will receive an error. You can attempt to activate online again by right clicking on the request account activation link and selecting Open link in incognito window. Do this only if you have different information to enter. You may want to confirm information with the child's current school prior to trying again.
Parents of students who are new to the county must go to ParentVUE for New Parents. Complete an Online Registration and provide all of the required documents to request a student identification number. Once the student ID number has been assigned, the parent can create their ParentVUE account to apply for a transfer. For assistance with this process the parent or legal guardian should contact the ParentVUE Administrator, Registrar, Counseling Center or main office for the child's current boundary school. Additional information can be found on the ParentVUE Support for Parents page and the ParentVUE Frequently Asked Questions page.
View the list of currently eligible schools for student transfers. Seats may not be available at all grade levels. There are no 9th-grade seats available for transfer students during the 2025-2026 school year. All 9th-grade students who have not been accepted and enrolled in a specialty program, public charter school, or lottery-based program must attend their boundary school. If a school or grade level has reached seating capacity, the menu option will not be available even if the school is on the eligible schools list.
Every effort will be made to notify parents of decisions by June 30, 2025. The Office of Student Records, Transfer, and Archival Services (OSRTAS) can not be held responsible for providing student transfer decision letters if the mailing address has not been updated in the ParentVUE account. Parents and legal guardians are responsible for ensuring residence addresses and/or email addresses are captured accurately in ParentVUE. To process changes to this information parents or legal guardians should contact the ParentVUE Administrator, Registrar or Counseling Center for the child's current school.
