About Us

Mission of DHES

At District Heights Elementary School we are committed to establishing a safe and orderly professional learning environment. Stakeholders will partner to provide students with rigorous instruction to ensure their academic success.

Philosophy

Our school’s philosophy is expressed through school system’s Core Values, our beliefs about all students, academic achievement, and the elements necessary to achieve excellence in education and learning.
Students are our priority and all students can achieve at high academic levels.

  • Families, students, and educators share the responsibility for student success.
  • High expectations inspire high performance.
  • All staff share the responsibility for a safe and supportive school environment contributing to excellence in education.
  • Continuous improvement in teaching, leadership, and accountability is the key to our destiny.

Relative to our Early Childhood program, we further state the following.

Prekindergarten is a vital foundation to the school readiness and continuing success of our four-year-old children of diverse cultures and capabilities who are from families that are economically disadvantaged or homeless. We provide appropriate experiences that address their needs in the seven areas of the Maryland Early Learning Standards by way of: age appropriate, research-based early childhood practices; best practices for staff; and family and community partnerships.
