Dear Doswell E. Brooks Elementary School Families,

Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year!

I hope this letter finds you and your family well and enjoying a wonderful summer. It is with great excitement that I welcome both our returning and new families to another year of learning, growth, and success at Doswell E. Brooks Elementary School.

The beginning of a new school year brings new opportunities to learn, build friendships, and achieve great things. Whether your child is returning to Doswell or joining our school family for the first time, please know that our dedicated staff is committed to providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment where every student can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Our Focus for the 2026–2027 School Year

Academic Excellence

We remain committed to maintaining high expectations for all students through rigorous instruction that encourages critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and a lifelong love of learning. Our goal is to ensure that every child reaches their fullest potential.

Social and Emotional Well-Being

At Doswell, we believe students learn best when they feel safe, respected, and valued. We will continue to foster a positive and inclusive school climate where every child is encouraged to grow in confidence, kindness, and responsibility.

Strong Family Partnerships

Families are an essential part of our students' success. We encourage all parents and guardians to stay actively involved throughout the school year.

Please be sure to sign up for the following communication tools:

  • ClassDojo – Our primary communication platform for school announcements, classroom updates, events, and messages from teachers.
  • ParentVUE – Your portal for accessing your child's grades, attendance, report cards, and other important student information.
  • Chipmunk - Our new school bus tracking app, which provides families with real-time bus locations, estimated arrival times, and instant alerts for delays, cancellations, and other transportation updates

Staying connected through these platforms will help ensure you never miss important information about your child's education.

I encourage every student to begin this school year with enthusiasm, curiosity, and a commitment to doing their very best. Remember that every challenge is an opportunity to learn and grow, and our teachers and staff are here to support each child every step of the way.

Welcome to Our New Families

We are excited to welcome our newest students and families to the Doswell community!

New Student Orientation & Meet and Greet Monday, August 24, 2026 at 9:45 a.m.

This event is a wonderful opportunity to meet our staff, tour the school, and begin building connections before the first day of school.

Welcome Back, Returning Students!

We are thrilled to have you back for another year of learning, leadership, and achievement. Your energy, talents, and commitment help make Doswell a special place, and we cannot wait to see all that you accomplish this year.

As we begin this new school year together, let us embrace the values of collaboration, respect, perseverance, and excellence. By working together as students, families, and staff, we will continue to create a school where every child is empowered to succeed and prepared to become a responsible, compassionate global citizen.

A key part of every student's success is being present each day. Every school day provides valuable opportunities to learn, build relationships, and grow academically and socially. Consistent attendance helps students stay engaged, develop positive routines, and reach their full potential. We encourage all families to make daily attendance a priority because every day matters, every lesson counts, and every student deserves the opportunity to thrive.

Our administrative and leadership team is always here to support you. If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions throughout the year, please do not hesitate to contact us.

End of the Day

At the end of the day, car riders, van riders, and Before and After Care will be dismissed first. No students will be dismissed to parents between the hours of 3:10 pm and 3:45 pm unless there is an emergency. This is a very critical time of the day when students and teachers are preparing for dismissal.
