International Baccalaureate at FDHS

The International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum is designed to develop students who think critically and are:

Those students who become part of the IB Diploma Programme have an opportunity to earn college credit through a series of assessments at the conclusion of their senior year.

FDHS became an IB World School in October of 2011. We are authorized to offer the Middle Years Programme, in partnership with James Madison Middle School, and we received authorization for the IB Diploma Programme in March of 2014.

Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) supports the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Program (MYP) and Diploma Programmes (DP) at Frederick Douglass High School (FDHS) by ensuring that continuity is provided to eligible students who begin the MYP experience at James Madison Middle School (JMMS).
