Dear William Beanes Families,Welcome to the 2025–2026 school year! I hope your summer was filled with joy, rest, and time to create meaningful memories with your children. As we prepare to open our doors for a new year of learning, I am excited to share our schoolwide theme: Charting Bold Journeys in Leading and Learning.

This theme represents our commitment to doing whatever it takes to help every student grow, succeed, and thrive. Whether your child is just beginning their journey in Pre-K or preparing for the transition to middle school, we are focused on providing a safe, inclusive, and challenging academic experience for all.

This year is especially important for our school. We have been identified by the state as an ATSI (Additional Targeted Support and Improvement) school based on the performance of our Multilingual Learners. Without strong progress, we could move into a more intensive category called CSI (Comprehensive Support and Improvement). We are working with urgency to ensure that does not happen—and with your partnership, we will meet this moment with excellence.

We are also receiving targeted support from the district to strengthen services for students with disabilities. Our goal is to make sure every student—regardless of background or learning need—gets the instruction, support, and encouragement they need to reach their full potential.

To ensure success for every learner, our schoolwide work this year will be anchored in four core priorities: deepening Tier 1 instruction through rigorous, standards-based planning and teaching; building strong instructional leadership at every level of our school; accelerating progress for Multilingual Learners and students with disabilities; and reducing chronic absenteeism. These priorities will be supported through frequent classroom observations, collaborative coaching, student-centered data conversations, and swift action when learning gaps or attendance concerns are identified. We will work closely with families to build strong attendance habits, ensuring students are present, engaged, and learning every day. We are also investing in the development of teacher leaders who will help guide our instructional improvement efforts and ensure all staff are aligned to our schoolwide mission.

We are also proud to welcome several new staff members to our Beanes family:

Ms. Danielle Hawkins – Reading Resource Teacher                                                  Ms. Monique Williams - SPED Paraprofessional

Please join me in welcoming them as they join us in our shared mission. As always, our success depends on strong partnerships between home and school. We are grateful for your continued trust, support, and involvement. Together, we will chart bold new paths of growth, leadership, and achievement for our children. Let’s make it a powerful year of purpose and progress—because our students deserve nothing less.

With gratitude and commitment,
Ms. Nyree Smith,
Principal
